If he gets captured by the cavalry he will be forced to carry his enemies into battle against his warrior’s family and kin. This painting is part of a series I did on the Native American war pony and the American Flag. I was imagining how conflicted it must have been to have no choice in the matter. In present time there are places in the world where people are in conflicted situations or witnessing individuals (man or horse) being torn between two worlds.
